Croatia Holidays, Travel Guide

Holidays in Croatia are coming to be Europe's hottest summer spots and considered one of the most beautiful Mediterranean travel destinations.

Travellers visit Croatia to experience the Mediterranean culture, to soak up the sun and sea on a gorgeous array of beaches and coves; to explore romantic Old Towns and to be swept up in the scenic allure - and not to mention the exquisite seafood cuisine.

Imagine a land with untouched forests, national parks teeming with wildlife gone from most of Europe. Imagine a long coastline of beautiful beaches and sheltered bays and coves. A coastline dotted with islands and shoals, a sea of crystal clear waters, gorgeously stocked with fish of every kind. A drive along the coast of the Adriatic is a must for travel enthusiasts.

Medieval towns abound here with Renaissance plazas and Roman ruins. This is a land richly adorned by the mantle of history. Yet, it is also one of the newest countries in Europe and it’s modern cities abound with nightlife and bustle of people getting about their business.

Croatia has been the crossroads of cultures and this is reflected in the cuisine, the customs and even the language. The beautiful Croatian coastline is studded with thousands of islands, islets and shoals.

The climate is Mediterranean with hot dry summers and mild winters. Yet only a few kilometres inland, the altitude rises into the Dinaric Mountains. The climate is Alpine with cold winters with skiing in winter and thick forests and alpine peaks. There are volcanic hot springs where people still holiday for the medicinal properties.

This is a land that has been inhabited for thousands of years. It has been seen the march of Roman armies. The armies of the First Crusade pillaged Croatia’s cities on their way to the Holy Land. Mongol invaders and later the armies of the Turkish sultan came and went. All have left their mark , and yet the hardy Croats remain - free at last and proud as ever. Croatia’s people are celebrating their freedom by opening their doors to the world. It is time to come and visit this ancient land.

Whether you want to destress on beautiful, sun-drenched beaches, or pore through ancient Roman ruins or medieval castles; whether you want to walk through ancient piazzas or sail the bluest seas to unspoiled islands, this is a place to visit.

If you just want to sit and watch the passing parade in outdoor cafes or dance all night in hip nightclubs, this country is `party-central’. Most of all, this is a place to visit more than once and enjoy the wonderful food and hospitality of it’s people.
