The Capital City Zagreb
Zagreb is the capital city of Croatia and divided into three parts; the upper town, the lower town and new Zagreb; 1. The thousand year old Gornji grad (upper town) encompasses the Croatian parliament, the historic church of St. Mark's, the Presidential Palace and museums and galleries. 2. The 19th century Dolnji grad (lower town) with its theatres, parks, restaurants, cafes and of course shops. 3. The modern post-war (WWII) Novi Zagreb (new Zagreb) is occupied with high-rise buildings.
Zagreb has it’s own airport Pleso and it lies on the crossroads between the Adriatic coast and Central Europe. This unique and charming city with its Baroque ambience, has rich historical and cultural heritage, refined by Mediterrean and Balkan traditions. Famously called `the city of museums', Zagreb has more museums per square foot than any other country in the world. There are over forty museums and galleries and twenty theatres to see. If you're a history buff, this is the place for you.
Now that isn't to say that's all there is to see. The people of Zagreb, Zagrebcani, love dining out in one of the many outdoor restaurants and cafes, watching the day go by and then finishing up in the one of the bars or clubs in the early evenings. You are sure to have a good time in this beautiful place whatever you choose to do.
